There are many homeless people among us who strive to survive for yet another day. All they dream of is a place to live in, a place they can call home. But even when the number of homeless people among is multiplying, we are unable to help them all.
It is to fulfill the dream of a home for the homeless that Malabar Group introduced the Malabar Housing Charitable Trust in 2004. In the starting stage, we decided to allocate 5% of the profits of Malabar Group for this endeavor. Through this endeavor, in the past decade we were able to provide a home for more than 8500 families across India. It makes me happy that we could help so many families, and that I could be part of this venture.
We at Malabar Group believe that everyone deserves a part of our business success, and by acting so, we aim at supporting the helpless and inspire more people to be helpful for the ones around them. To make our activities sounder, we have prepared a plan for the Trust, to make it more competent and prepared.
It is for these acts that Malabar Housing Charitable Trust was awarded an exemption in tax by the Central Government, as per Income Tax Act Section 35AC. Very few organizations in India were given this provision. As per the Act, every single donations made by Malabar Group on behalf of Malabar Housing Charitable Trust receives 100% tax exemption. This is an honor that was given to us as a recognition of our acts.
Even then, a question always comes in mind… have I been able to help everyone that deserved it? A man or a community cannot help everyone. This is a universal truth. So all we can do is this: Do what you can do, pray and believe that the rest will do good, and encourage the ones who do good.
